I am a self-taught potter and have been working with clay for more than 19 years. My work is primarily wheel thrown with my main focus being functional works for the last 5 years. I love the idea of someone taking home something I have made and using it in their daily lives.
It’s nice to be able to touch people’s lives in a small way.
I had no interest in working with clay until I got a job working in the shipping department of a clay manufacturer.
I was amazed by all the possibilities, how limitless working with clay is. I have been working with it ever since, sometimes obsessively producing both decorative and functional works.
The main body of my work is stoneware and I occasionally do porcelain and earthenware pieces.
I mainly fire in electric kilns but love doing wood firings when I can and also gas/reduction firings.
